How To Get EDU Backlinks
Learning how to get EDU backlinks to your website is one of the best skills that you can pick up when learning to do SEO linkbuilding. The main reasons are that (1) EDU backlinks are more difficult to get and are seen as more credible, (2) EDU pages with the same page rank as a normal site will give you more points with Google.
So if you learn how to get edu backlinks to your site more often, you will be able to dominate the search engines for the keywords that you are ranking for.
How To Get EDU Backlinks Using Google
If you want to know how to get edu backlinks to your site, you first need to find edu sites! Google is still our best friend and this is definitely the best place to search for those nice juicy backlinks. Now the trick here is to use search queries with Google’s search bar.
So what do I mean? You have to type in special codes when you want to search specifically for edu backlinks and one example of such a code is this
site:.edu
This will help to return sites that only have the “.edu” at the end of it. Of course, this is only going to return you a bunch of sites with the edu link at the end, but it does not guarantee that you can get any backlinks from them. So the best way to do this is to search for edu sites that have blogs, user registration, or allow you to create wikipages in them. You can do these by searching for these links in a couple of ways:
site:.edu “blog”
site:.edu “Log in / create account”
site:.edu “MediaWiki”

How To Get EDU Backlinks – Registering For Accounts
Once you are done searching for those edu sites, you will need to find out how to get edu backlinks from them. Not all edu sites allow you to create backlinks and the best way to find out is if those sites allow you to (1) register for an account, (2) create a wiki page or (3) allow you to leave a comment on the blog posts.
A very simple way to check if an edu site will allow you to create an account with their wikipage is to look out for the “Log in/create account” text on the top right hand side. Of course, this does not guarantee that you will be able to register with them as they sometimes require a registered edu email to create an account, or they may have registration disabled.
How To Get EDU Backlinks And Prevent Them From Getting Removed
In my experience with creating edu backlinks, I had many of my wikipages deleted almost right away after creating them. This is due to the fact that several of these edu sites are strictly moderated. The moment you are seen to provide irrelevant content that only aims to create a link back to yours, you will be banned immediately from doing anything on that edu site.
The best way I have found is to find out what the general topic being covered at the edu site is about, and then proceed to EzineArticles.com to get a relevant article and paste it into the WikiPage that you create. Be sure to give credit to the author at the end with his signature, which would be given on the article directory. Remember at this point in time, we are
concerned about getting a juicy link from an edu site and not how relevant the content is.
So how to get edu backlinks if you are not placing anything related to your content or your link? Well simple, all I do is end off the article by saying “This page was created by…” and that is where you can place your nice juicy edu backlink to your site.
The simple 3 step process is:
(1) Find A Blog/Wikipage to create an account
(2) Grab an article from ezinearticles.com
(3) End off the article with your own signature, and giving credits to the original author

I have to tell you..you had me a EDU back links! As far as link building from authority sites EDU’s are at the top and like you said they are a little tricky to get but well worth it.
Any blogger with their salt should A) have a game plan as far as syndication strategy and link building. B) know when to move the free line. And you just did both.

That is the reason why you want to find content that is relevant to the wikis and posting it there. You will be providing valuable content to that wiki so it will not be considered spam.
Most of the wiki sites, I have found, are not moderated but there is always a chance that they are and you might get banned. So find related information and just post your link at the end and you will be fine.

You could definitely try placing your link at the top of the article as an introduction. Just be careful on how you place that link or the moderators may view it as an attempt just to try and get a link back to your site. That’s why you don’t see press releases or news reports having the company information right at the beginning. I would recommend placing value before your info.

Well most certainly .edu links are the game changers in most cases, but unfortunately they’re really tough to get… otherwise if you get a .edu backlink which has 100+ other junk links, it can do more BAD than GOOD – so one needs to be careful with the selection too!

It’s definitely doesn’t give you much juicy of a link if it is giving backlinks to a bunch of other sites. I’m not sure if it can do more bad than good though. Either way, I believe getting that backlink will not hurt your site’s ranking.
